New technologies, like artificial intelligence (AI), are reshaping our world. They bring powerful opportunities and threats, especially to our human rights. The Final Report sets out a roadmap for Australia to seize the opportunities and address the threats.
Technology and human rights
The recommendations in the Final Report are informed by the Commission’s expertise, our research and extensive public consultation with the community, government, industry and academia.
The Final Report aims to foster a deeper understanding of the human rights implications for Australia of new and emerging technologies, to ensure the development and deployment of ethical AI.
Summary of Final Report
The Report is divided into four parts:
- Part A: a national strategy on new and emerging technologies
- Part B: the use of artificial intelligence in decision making by government and the private sector
- Part C: supporting effective regulation through the creation of an AI Safety Commissioner
- Part D: accessible technology for people with disability.
