About Speaking from Experience
The Australian Human Rights Commission’s Speaking from Experience project invited people who have been sexually harassed at work to have their say about what they think needs to change to make workplaces safer. What we have been told is helping us create resources that will help workers and employers to make workplaces safer for everyone.
The following are some frequently asked questions. If your questions are not answered here, please feel free to contact us.
-
Who is running Speaking from Experience?
Speaking from Experience is run by the Australian Human Rights Commission, Australia’s human rights institution.
Find out more about the Australian Human Rights Commission on the website.
-
Why are we running this project?
Workplace sexual harassment is common. In Australia, 1 in 3 people have been sexually harassed at work in the last five years. From March to September 2024 the Commission invited people who have been sexually harassed at work to share their advice and ideas on how to address workplace sexual harassment. Their ideas are important, and are helping us create resources and advice to make workplaces safer. Their ideas and advice might also be used to improve policy and practice to address workplace sexual harassment in the future.
