CEO Message
As the President of the Australian Human Rights Commission, I would like to welcome you to the careers section of our website. If your career aspirations involve building awareness, shifting attitudes, influencing laws and policies then you are in the right place. A career at the Commission means you will contribute towards real and lasting change in Australia.
Working at the Commission presents you with various opportunities to make a substantive contribution to human rights in Australia. We make human rights values part of everyday life and language empowering all people to understand and exercise their human rights.
The law underpins what the Commission does; we are an independent statutory organisation and report to the federal Parliament through the Attorney-General. Our primary emphasis is on working towards an Australian society where human rights are enjoyed by everyone, everywhere, every day. As there is no simple way to solve complex human rights issues, the Commission seeks to address these issues using a range of integrated and complementary approaches. The Commission has a diverse mix of highly passionate and motivated people who are attracted to a supportive culture, inspiring colleagues and challenging work.
We have come a long way since the Commissions establishment in 1986 and our future is even brighter. I would like to wish you all the best in your application process if you decide to join the Commission.
