Age Matters?
Age
Matters?
A report on age
discrimination (2000)
Many age distinctions
have long been taken for granted in Australian law and policy. They affect
people at both ends of the age spectrum - both younger and older Australians.
Age Matters?: a report on age discrimination looks at age discrimination against older people at work, young people at work, Commonwealth programs and discrimination in accommodation and a range of goods and services.
The report also provides an overview of Australia's international undertakings to eliminate age discrimination. It concludes with recommendations for federal action on age discrimination including amendments to legislation, the conduct of public and business education programs and the need for a more rigorous federal legal regime.
