To the Commissioner, I strongly disagree with the theatre /cinema exemption from the Disability Discrimination. This new standard effectively means that I will not attend a movie again for the two years. I feel it is disgraceful that so few movies have to be captioned and none outside the Victorian metropolitan area. As a person in regional Victoria area I have so few options to enjoy popular culture and now my local cinema, that is currently being upgraded, knows it does not have to cater for me or any other hearing, blind or Deaf person. I feel greatly discriminated against in may aspects of my life and now with no improvement over the next two years in this area. In this submission I speak for myself as an individual and also speak the concerns of a large number of hearing impaired and deaf people that AI work with and for.
